Artwork Information
The type of file that is acceptable greatly depends on what we are printing on, the type of image, how many colors your design is and the type of printing (digital or offset)
The ideal format for most printing is:
Adobe Illustrator outlined vector eps format. This is good for spot or CYMK decorations. Any other formats will need to be determined by what need to be done and see if it’s acceptable.
Preferred Image Programs
Image Programs In Order of Preference:
- Adobe Illustrator® (Preferably saved as outline vector eps format)
- Adobe Photoshop® (at least 300 dpi either in .tiff or .eps format) (depends on what we need to do in order to see if it’s acceptable)
- Other Programs - Save artwork as vector in .eps format (depends on what we need to do in order to see if it’s acceptable)
Fonts:
If you are using a special font, it is critical that you include the fonts when sending your artwork. Since the fonts from the PC and MAC are not always compatible, the best way to avoid any font issue is to convert them into outline format.
In some cases we can accept other types of files e.g JPG’s, PDF’s, photoshop with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. If you don’t have or are unsure of the file type just give us a call and we will be glad to help you.
As a general rule, if it can be viewed on the web it will most likely be too low of quality for printing. Web graphics are made to load quickly, thereby cutting the quality of the image. The eye may not notice this on the web, but it will show up in printing.
File Size:
If you have any art file that is too large to send due to server file size limits, please go to our ftp site link to upload the file. Please have a folder that contains all the native files and components (e.g. image and font files) and stuff it before uploading. That will help to save uploading time and aid in corruption issues.
